Re: 230 Dodge

Not that old! When I was in High School I had a buddy that also had an old dodge that had the same transmission and that was our road drinking car, when we got drunk anyone could drive it clutch or not and get us back home. We lived in a very rural area so on one else was on the road just the stars ...

Thank You for your time.

A Special thanks to Charles Talbert, He spends so much time and effort keeping these old trucks rolling down the road. Without the extended knowledge and experience of the M37 that he and the others bring to the forum many vehicles would be simply sitting in the back yards and groves rusting away. W...

Re: Who Makes Fuel Pump Rebuild Kits with Modern Diaphragms?

Charles would you please post the correct dimensions ( OD & ID ) of the backup plates so I we can have this reference to insure the right pieces are with the kits when we order and not end up going through all of the labor pains that have been endured with Tuko. :? :D

Re: Maybe this isn't Technical, but......

The big factor was the cost per vehicle. These vehicles found themselves in every climate known to man so it was not cost effective putting a heater in every vehicle. A hot water heater failure in a hot climate could render it useless. It wasn’t that many years before any vehicle had a heater at all...

Re: Tailgate Reinforcement Field Modification

Most of the tail gates that I have seen used 1 inch angle Iron welded into place. I would imagine the motor pool used whatever they had to make this fix. :?

Re: What is this Test Kit actually for ???

This kit will take all the pain away from tuning and electrical diagnostic work and a must have for anyone whom owns an M series vehicle. When you use these with your TM publications there is very little that will be left out of a repair procedure. A few years back they were selling for $20-$30, but...

Re: M 37 V SANDY

That is too bad to hear about the vehicles that went swimming in the salt water. I can’t imagine how much fresh water it is going to take flushing all of the crack and crevices cleaning the salt out. Good luck with the clean up and let us know how it’s going.

Re: Battery Box mounting

Nice work Jarhead! On both my M43 and M37 have the capsulated nuts welded to the underside of the floor pan and also both of them have the down drain tubes welded to the battery tray! I also have a third tray on the bench that has a 1/8 nipple threaded and welded for a drain spout. I really like the...

Re: Machining stamps

Best wishes to Mom. :) Mikes statement is right on the money. Side clearance of the rods and mains. It's great to see this detail when getting into a rebuilt motor showing that the shop and guy doing the work had some pride of workmanship. That is quickly becoming a lost practice.

Re: Moisture in oil and coming out the exhaust.

Cracks can be visible depending where they might be. I have seen cylinder walls crack in ways that are very hard to detect and other times can be detected with no problem. You will have to expect the worst and hope for the best and do a thoural inspection of the head and block when you pull the head...
