Re: dodge m37 pedal blocks
The original rubber draft pads served both of those functions and kept (some of) the road dust out of the cab. The spacer blocks are just that...spacers. They keep the pedal from coming all the way up. You have to remember to adjust your clutch/brake linkage accordingly if you use them. (Reason for ...

Re: M42 Accessories?
Aha! Don't kknow what the official nomenclature is, but we used those as field file cabinets in TAC. That particular type of construction was common during the Korean and Vietnamese wars. The last one I saw in daily use was being used by my local Red Cross blood collection unit. They had a field des...

Re: M42 Accessories?
Sounds like a typical field desk. Somewhere, maybe on the inside of the lid, there should be a nomenclature stencil telling exactly what it is. Of course, it could be under the fluorescent green. These desks were used by virtually all units who deployed in wartime. Unit orderly rooms certainly had s...

Gee! You mean you don't need AutoCad to design a cab dolly? What will they think of next?

Re: removing a broken drive flange stud
I learned the pipe wrench trick the hard waay. I twisted off a stud while removing the exhaust/intake manifold form a slant-six Dodge. Like most people, I tried the vise grip approach, but they kept slipping off, no matter how hard I had to squeeze to lock 'em. I was about to grind off what stub the...

'nother update
Well, I'm getting weaker, now, so much so that it's difficult to sit at the computer for more than 15 minutes or so at a time. Otherwise, I don't "feel" any worse than before. The VA docs are doing a great job on the pain control for me. (I am such a wimp when it comes to pain!) The other ...

Re: TRANSFER CASE
Sounds like something was jammed into your shift linkage for the selector lever and it vibrated its way out on the return trip. The hubs wouldn't have anything to do with it. You should still be able to shift the t-case, regardless of how the hubs were set.

Hey Stu, Do they interfere with you view/sight line, I had a pair and sold 'em? I'm almost 6' 3", they would not have worked for me, or Charles for that matter. Lifer is 6' 7"! Actually, my separation physical when I retired from the AF had me pegged at 6' 10". I'm still that tall wh...

"Slope Head" made? Isn't that just a little on the "politically incorrect" side, Anthony? Surely you're not a bigot!

Re: My week in Normandy
This is just a suggestion, but if any of you ever do get the chance to make the trip, try to speak to some of the German, French, and Italian veterans. Some of them have some very interesting tales to tell. The bitterness of having lost the war has long worn off, and many aare happy to have a chance...

Hi, Tim! I checked out the first 20 or so of your truck pics and I gotta say two things. (1) Thanks for picking the "correct" color for your truck! There aren't nearly enough blue ones around. ;) (2) Even though it's not "correct," I like the way you painted certain parts black f...

Re: Troops Seats In..
Can't have a truck with out a trailer.... :) I like that sentiment. However, you can turn it around and get a trailer first. Then, you tell the wife "ya know, we really need this trailer to haul stuff with, but it's kinda hard to do without a truck to tow it with! It just so happens, I know wh...

I applaud your visit! Having spent 17 years of my military career in Europe, I am well aware of the sacrifices made by my dad and his cronies. I have participated in Memorial Day services at our National Cemetery in St. Avold, France 4 times, leaving with a big lump in my throat each time. I agree w...

Re: dodge m37 carburator
45 is about average for one of these trucks. I'm pretty sure that's what the military governor setting was, anyway. You might be able to tweak it enough to get 50 or 55, but by 55 mph you would be revving your engine a little more than might be desirable.
