Re: M37 drawing?

yes that's it. I knew I'd seen it somewhere but I couldn't remember where. I looked through the front of the TMs. I expected to find it there.

Thanks!

M37 drawing?

Where can i find a drawing of the M-47 with dimensions similar to the data plate on the glove box door? I'm sure I've seen one on-line or in one of the manuals but I can't find it now. I can find plenty of sites that have tabular listings but I want the drawing too.

That must be what they referring to when they say VINTAGE Power Wagon parts! :D

Re: Ask Lifer

Hi Cuz, The data plate says 52, and the Responsible Agency was USAF. You are probably right about the light blue being CAP. Thanks, Tim I spent a butt load of years in the CAP starting in the mid 1960s and even helped recover an x-navy M-38A1from Cecil Field and restore it and repaint it in CAP col...

Re: Grounding out when starter is engaged

The electrical system should ground out when you hit the starter. Starters pull a LOT of current (several hundred amps!) and with a weak battery it may seem like a direct short to ground even if it isn't. The best way to tell for sure is to put a a HIGH capacity amp meter is series with the starter ...

Re: Carb bowl drying out

You should start it more often or at least pump up the fuel system. If the bowl is drying out then the gaskets are probably drying out as well . If they dry out they tend to shrink and cause air leaks and other problems. Also if it's sitting that long then the fuel may be going bad, ESPECIALLY the e...

I imagine that the only government surplus that was available in 1080 was something that came from the north end of a south bound horse!

Re: First Aid Kit

The correct kit depends on the era. The 50s kits were steel and the mid-60s kits are aluminium. But I suspect that the steel ones were still in use even after the issue of the Al ones. The inside of the top cover for both kits has a label that says Ten Man (or Unit?) Kit and has a list of all the pa...

Re: Keeping water from pooling on canvas

C Garbee (IIRC!) said on his site that he made wood bow to run lengthwise on his truck to prevent the canvas from sagging. I think he did it mainly for the looks but it should solve your problem too. He had pictures of it posted on his site so check there. Let us know how it works if you try it.

Re: 318 with problems....

The BEST way to improve the mileage on your engine would be to dump the Holley carb and put on a good Carter AVS or AFB. I know that's going to cause a flame war given the the Holley has spent millions on the auto mags trying to convince everyone that it's the best carburetor company but I've run do...

Re: for sale 1953 m37

any interest in this truck if i start parting it out? You'll probably make more money parting it out. If the winch and pto are in good condition that's $500 - $1000 already. Cheers True but unfortunately it takes a long time and a lot of personal time to deal with and you'll probably be left with a...

Found door panels for M-37!

Thanks to all that responded during my search for inside door panels for my M-37. I finally found a source for ones that match the ones for the M-37 exactly ! I tried Power Wagon door panels but they were completely different. However I stumbled onto these on E-bay and today I received a set from an...

Re: Starter Out! Lessons learned:

I don't think your battery charger will provide anywhere near enough current to operate the starter AND the high current may damage the charger. I won't try it! You can test the charger with a 12volt battery since the kick-in is manual instead of via a selenoid. It should spin but just slower. Haven...
