Tom does have the best price going for Selectros & most everything else he has available. He is great to deal with, prompt also, hard traits to come by these days.

Bidders going nuts again, if you read all the fine print, maybe there's a shovel or a restoration guide included.

Oh yeh, there's all sorts of names people have hung on substandard jobs, I get a laugh most everytime I hear one. Since you mentioned some of the coolant ports were blocked, that may well be why the valve was cracked as that would greatly hinder heat transfer away from the areas where the blockages ...

Well fellows, pictures look decent, price is good at $2,200 when I looked at it. BUT, I've seen so many people who got burned severely buying sight unseen on ebay, it doesn't excite me at all. I've been sent photos that looked every bit as good as these, but what did the product really look like upo...

Thanks for the help Charles, I wish I had done the compression test when I purchased my "restored" truck in May of '06 but I was just not thinking or was it too trusting a little of both. looks like a rebuild is the only real option now.... :( The words "RESTORED/OVERHAULED/REBUILT&q...

Well, you still have a problem with #5 also in some respect. You'll have to clean it up, looks extremely dirty in the photos. I would pull all the valves for a thorough clean up to include guides. You'll need to check stem to guide clearance after clean up, if it's worn out of spec, new guides &...

#85 is not used in M37 (It is paired to 27) 85 is actually a low airpressure warning hook up. #11is your hot feed going to terminal A on teh switch No fuses in M37 only circuit breakers. #11 should come from the breakers under the dash but is the feed for them and is not itself protected by them (a...

Importance of compression testing

I know some get tired of hearing me speak about compression testing. Thought I'd share this that happened here on Friday morning. A gentleman came by with a '46 Dodge 1 1/2 ton truck on his trailer. Asked me to have a look at the engine about some freeze plug & minor oil leaks. He said it cranke...

Thanks again Charles. After thinking it over I called VPW and ordered one from them to take the guessing out of it. I have started to remove the head. Those old bolts have been in there for 55 years. I got them all started and then soaked them in WD40. I am waiting for tomorrow to take them out. I ...

Re: compression test woes !!!

someone correct me if I am wrong, but the stock air cleaner in the M-Series is an oil bath style so there should be oil in there. There's plenty in mine! Apologies if this was NOT the oil you were referring to. Yes the air cleaner bowl should have oil in it up to the level line. What this gentleman...
