Charles D Briggs Jr. aka Lifer
I am sad to announce that my father Charles D Briggs Jr. (aka Lifer) passed away today July 13, 2011 at 4:20 am Eastern Time. I know that he enjoyed "speaking" to all of you about his life, interests and hobbies. Please remember him and us in your prayers. He has gone on to a better place ...

Re: Arctic cab rear sliding window
I think that, like most sliding windows, they were a friction fit. Those weather strips do tend to lose their grip a little after the first 50 years or so.

Re: Will This Engine Work in an M37?
That depends on where the block is cracked. Some cracks can be welded up without anything else being required. Cracks in cylinder walls can sometimes be welded up, bored out, and sleeved, thus saving an other wise good block. What you do will depend on how much money you want to spend on it. The onl...

Well, you already know that the skinny end is 1/8" NPT. Find out what size the bigger thread is and ask for a reducing connector to join the two. You may have to explain that "esta no cosa grande" and give 'em a Gibbs slap to the back of the heaad, but they'll have 'em.

Re: Oil Filter Conversion?
Come to think of it, your NAPA store probably has 'em, too. They'll probably be in the brake/fuel line section. The "computer geek" at the counter probably couldn't understand your situation and couldn't find it on the computer. Ask his boss, though, and he'll probably be able to fix you r...

Check with your local ACE (or similar) hardware store for a couple of couplers. They'll have them. Similar situations are pretty common in the HVAC business.

Yeah...I kinda figured it was a typo, too. The "2" and the "3"" are right next to each other (at least they are on my keyboard.)

Re: Flywheel bolts
Same with the other parts houses. They'll usually have things that aren't listed on their computers, but if it ain't there, the kids will just tell you "we ain't got it." The manaager of my "used to be local" NAPA store heard one of the young kids tell a customer that one day, wa...

Re: M42 Accessories?
The bottles are most likely ink bottles. We didn't have ball-point pens back then, and all military documents had to be signed in ink. Fountain pens were common, and most officers carried one (at the risk of staining their pockets) and they had to be refilled every now and then, so an ink supply was...
