Can you buy the flywheel bolts( bolts with a flat side) at a local parts store or do I need to go through a vendor? Came back from shop missing 2
Thanks,
might be worth checking out the local carquest. They carry doorman stuff. They are most likely to have something like that but you may have to con them into looking in the catalog.
Same with the other parts houses. They'll usually have things that aren't listed on their computers, but if it ain't there, the kids will just tell you "we ain't got it."
The manaager of my "used to be local" NAPA store heard one of the young kids tell a customer that one day, walked over, pulled out the book, found the part, and had the kid go retrieve it from the shelf. Admittedly, it was a little dusty, but it was there and the old man knew it. He then apologized to the customer for the way he had been treated and fired the kid (who had already been warned about his attitude toward the customers).
The original bolts heads were accurately sized to wedge against the first step up of the flywheel at the hub and at the same time clear the clutch hub. To use a generic fat headed Grade 8 bolt one would have to mill at least one flat so it fits snugly against the step up in the flywheel and mill the head down enough so it can't hit anything above it.
