Re: Military Vehicles Magazine
I felt the same way Vargaspj. I read some of those militaria articles and looked at the memorabilia being advertised. I don’t identify with that side of the hobby at all; and to be honest, it creeped me out. I miss the MVM of the 1990’s. I think that was its best decade. I’m not sure if I will get u...

Re: 24 Volt Military Coil Modification
I use 24 volt Pertronix epoxy filled Flamethrower coils on my Mercedes Unimog 404 trucks. The part number is 40611. These are used with the Pertronix electronic ignition conversion kits. I have never burned one out. Those M180 motors will turn 4,000 rpm’s all day. The original Bosch 24 volt coils th...

Re: My 1952 Dodge M37 re-building process
Hi there Sebastian, You have a very nice truck indeed. Curious what the scope of your restoration will be, particularly what your shop will be doing and labor hours budgeted. It would be interesting to see the shafting and engineering of the winch in the bed of your truck. That set up is pretty nift...

Re: Source to buy a 24-volt headlight for M37
If you want to try a modern version with removable bulbs, Octane Lighting has a number of options. I converted my OEM headlights to 7” H4 bulbs. I had to buy the female pigtails from Amazon to install them. It was a $100 job all in for both. The upside is brighter lights and you can find replacement...

Another M37
Just returned home to Jacksonville, FL from collecting another M37. This one is a 1953 M37 with PTO winch from Daytona Beach. It was brought down to Florida from New Jersey by “Bob”. It’s pretty nice and came with literally a ton of parts, mostly NOS and some used. Bob was in the process of converti...

Veteran’s Day Fun
My wife is a school teacher here in Florida and her school set up to honor our Veterans. As part of the decorations, her principal asked if she would bring an army truck. She agreed, so I drove the 1952 ambulance over to the school and left it a couple days. From what I understand, the kids had a gr...

Re: Multi-year Ignition Conundrum
Thank you Gary, Well, Saturday it was pretty rainy so I spent the day cleaning connections, tracing and testing wiring. The wire coming off the radio suppression filter was in rough shape (I think that’s what the thing at the bottom of the distributor housing is). It had been covered in electrical t...

Re: need winch bumpers for my m37
I got a couple of them from Midwest Military. One side was NOS and the other side was newly manufactured, I think. They came as part of a full winch/PTO kit so I don’t know the actual cost. Others have cobbled the original front bumper into two winch bumpers with good results….I couldn’t tell the di...

Multi-year Ignition Conundrum
Hi everyone, Firstly, has anyone seen the $29,000 M37 on eBay right now? That is about the cleanest I’ve ever seen. It’s worth a look. Not for me, however; I’m still committed to my own endless restorations. As to my ignition problem, I will share two years ago my mechanically near-perfect 1952 M43 ...

It is always something, isn’t it? What a relief for a manageable problem.
Otherwise I will mention yours is one nice looking truck Gary.
Cheers, Jerry

Thinking about a 6x6 conversion
I have an M56 without the original box; so cab, chassis and winch. I also have access to a totally derelict and modified WC62 6x6 that has been sitting outside for the past 70 years used on and off to haul produce out of the fields. I was wondering if anyone has ever thought about grafting the back ...

Re: More stuff for the M43 - Trip to the Freight Depot
Thanks Gary for the paint code referral. I took a peek this morning. A bunch of the parts are in sealed boxes with dates on them going back decades. Some parts are obviously take offs. The winch bumpers and extensions are new. The winch is not rebuilt and the seller guessed it would need seals. In t...

More stuff for the M43 - Trip to the Freight Depot
Picked up a complete PTO powered MU4 winch kit for my M43 ambulance this morning from the UPS freight depot in Jacksonville, Florida. And, I just finished dragging the pallet into the shop tonight. Hmm....someone on this forum once said the the “L” in LU4 stood for light. Well, it didn’t seem light ...
