Re: the deadly art of tire repair
Buy a gallon of tire mounting lube and ditch the soap. It's pretty corrosive. After having my wheels apart and mounting all new tires, the Goodyear wheels are a pretty safe design (as far as multi-piece wheels go). As long as the locking ring flange is in good condition, is seated , and the tire bea...

Re: NP-200 Idler Pre-Load Spacer
Thanks for the dimensions and the replies. For how widespread the NP-200 was used, this information was nearly impossible to find.

NP-200 Idler Pre-Load Spacer
Is the spacer (Tool 41-S-3868-500 in the Power Train manual) used in the setup of the idler gear preload the same thickness as the front of the case where the shaft goes through? Wondering about that dimension so I can turn one to setup my idler bearings.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Full Flow Oil Filter Modification
This topic comes up frequently on the early Jeep boards. http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/converting-to-a-spin-oil-filteranybody-done-it_topic4061.html Scroll to the second post which has an excellent summation of the differences between a full flow and bypass. In short you won't gain much by conve...

Re: HVLP to soda blaster?
Never tried anything in my Binks but paint. If your HVLP is a cheapo I suppose you could risk soda beads. But, why not go to Harbor Freight in person or on line and buy a cheap paint gun or blaster gun. Like others, I'm not a fan of soda bead blasting. Save yur pennies and buy the right tool for th...

Re: Draft Pads Brake and Clutch
I thought that's how they were supposed to be installed. You're saying everyone's been installing the NOS ones over the actual pedal and down?

Re: Draft Pads Brake and Clutch
Has anyone tried boiling the pads before installing them? That's a popular method for installing one piece VW swing axle boots.

Re: NDT's suck.
Humour my stupidity Cuz, what model are the Goodyears again and are they still in production? Best Regards - MM :D Those are Goodyear Custom Xtra Grips. I'm pretty sure they're not available anymore in the US. Garbee has a short section on the tire page of his website. I'd love to have a set of tho...

Re: NDT's suck.
Unfortunately the HMMWV tires are 16.5". I thought about getting a set of those wheels and having them recentered. Doing that and ordering some surplus bias plys would be roughly comparable in cost to a new set of 16" tires. No one here is running Geolander MT+'s? I know I saw some trucks ...

NDT's suck.
I've been driving my M37B1 around town lately and I've come to the conclusion that many others have. NDT's are abysmal on snow and ice. Even more so when they're 40+ years old. If I lived in a drier, warmer climate I'd probably run them until the cords showed. But that's not the case. I'd like to pu...

Re: How did the GSA Wyoming sale end up ???
I've got to get the lighting working and the right rear wheelwell has a notch cut out of it to accommodate some sort of tank that was in the bed. Beyond that I can't think of anything that was really hacked. As far as I know there's no rust-through anywhere on the truck cab included. I still have to...

Re: How did the GSA Wyoming sale end up ???
Guess it's time I ought to post. The recovery went pretty well. With some "insider information" from John and my winning bid, all the truck really needed was gas, batteries, and brakes bled. Unfortunately the original top ripped open ten miles from home. But other than a few dents, the tru...
