Replacement glass

Post by Tankjeepman »

I am looking at a truck without any glass. Does anyone have a good source and or cost for window and windshield glass for a 1951 truck?

Where are you located? I have two pieces of windshield glass each mounted in their inner frame assembly here in VT. The seals around the outside of the frames are shot and will need to be replaced.

Not sure how tough this stuff is to ship or what a fair price is (I'll have to look in to that).

VPW sells these new with weatherstrip for $225 each.

Any glass place should be able to cut what you need as long as you have the frames they go in.
I went to the local autoglass shop and had them cut panes for my Willys no problem.
Call around your area and I'm sure you'll find something.

Yes, just plain flat safety glass is simple to find (fortunately, the M37 does not use any custom curved pieces). Good frames are another matter, but at least they are available without having to custom-fabricate something.

Tankjeepman, do you have the windshield inner frames, and the outer frame assembly (the part that allows you to fold the windshield forward down on to the hood)?

Remember that the M35 series deuces, and the M52 series 5-tons also use the same window and frame.
