Please reply with the identification of a couple of components in a truck I'm looking at buying ---
-- Engine Block stamping where the T245 should be is -- TI42*90465 -- Is this a civilian engine?
-- It is a winch equip truck but has an -- MU3-10F -- winch instead of a LU-4. Is that an original equipment winch model for our trucks?
I have not been able to bring up forum discussions when searching for the origins of either of these, so thanks for any help you're able to provide!!
Thanks
DCook

Re: Help with Component ID
The engine type is suspect, maybe a depot changeout in later years or by a foreign gov't.
Is the oil filler pipe bolted to the block or pushed in?
All G741 series trucks were equipped with the Braden LU-4. Many MU-series winches were added by civilian or downstream users, but not OEM gear.

Re: Help with Component ID
Hey Thanks for your great reply! Very helpful. I don't have a good picture to reference that shows the distributor area, which would answer the fill pipe question. I'll keep searching for details ----

Re: Help with Component ID
Are you sure it isn’t a T149? Those are 218ci (civilian, probably from the late 40s).

Sebastian the picture I have is quite clear, and it's a TI as in eye not a one. this font makes it look like a one not a capitol I.

Re: Help with Component ID
Look, I'm just trying to give a hand. I've never seen a TIx serial.
I've just done a 10 seconds search in Google and I got this I'm attaching....
See the serial the poster is declaring? The other forum member indicates probably it's a T-142. And he just informs what I've pointed out previously (just noted I wrote 149 instead of 142).
Anyways, this is just fast check online. Probably the serial TI is legit and there's almost no info about it to be found.

Re: Help with Component ID
Finally had a chance to post a picture of the engine stamping in this truck. It is the "V41 Up For Grabs", that I was hoping to be all original. Still haven't figured out where this engine came from, but I think it's Civilian
