Crimper for Douglas and Packard conectors.

Post by NAM VET »

The previous owner of my truck had it for several decades, and had been an army mechanic in his earlier days. Lots of spares came with my truck, including bags of both the metal Douglas and the rubber Packard connectors and the little parts that are part of that, plus lots of fresh military wire. My truck is a mixture of both connectors, and at first I found it difficult of find a suitable "ring" crimper, so made do with some solder and tiny pliers. Not perfect.

Maybe a year ago, located on Bay a new proper crimper, so if you want to find one, among all the complex "military" and aviation crimps out there, it is a "Buchanan C-24 press-SURE-tool." I think I paid something like 70 bucks or so for a brand new one, which works perfectly on both types. The connectors and parts are available on Ebay and from our vendors.

Just a morning post about a sometimes essential tool for the restoration of our trucks.
