I've also got an M274. (A5). I'll get it running someday.

My 1953 USAF R-2 Rescue Truck on a M56 chassis. All equipment installed as in 1953. Runs and drives great.

Here's some photos from yesterday. Fortunately the starter switch adjustment and fuel line fix worked out. It would have been embarrassing to have to deal with a no start or contribute to a brush fire, which is what we're trying to prevent!!!

The truck's in there somewhere...

The neighbors were skeptical about my driving the truck up in the canyon of a local park that we clean out for the city. After one run everyone was a convert :). I got a little 4x4 time, was able to help out and even pulled a few logs. All and all a good day.

here is a low view from a year ago, before I painted the numbers and put a top on. I think these trucks look really beefy down low at the front. We are spending this week down at the beach near Charleston with the family. I am putting in a transfer case temp sender when I get back some time later this week. just something to do. My full flow oil filter system works great. I wear ear muffs, so the gear whine just blends in with the other sounds. HC

Almost all equipment/tools are on-board except a electrical WYE connector for generator reel for Floodlight and Electric Metal Saw and a brass CB nozzle for hose reel. Very fortunate to get it in this almost original condition.
