I sometimes hesitate to post pictures of Brutus at work. Some folks are aghast that I'm not treating him like a museum piece. I got him because I wanted a work truck with character. I do try not to abuse him. If he complains, I stop pushing it. I don't log or do firewood professionally, so I don't have any need t push the limits.

I'm not sure I'd call it "self recovery", we used a Jeep and a T100 !

We were playing on the trail and went wide on a corner, the LF slid over the berm at the trail's edge and as we worked to get back on the trail the truck continued to slide sideways until the LR started to slide over the berm's edge, then we got some help before things got worse. I learned that the grass is like ice and once you hit that you're essentially along for the ride to the bottom of the hill. Once we had a plan it only took a few minutes to get back on the trail. Fortunately my friends have off road experience and long tow ropes! All and all it was fun and educational, I think the key was knowing when to quit.

The truck was really competent on the trails, driver error was the larger issue . We spent a few hours playing and giving rides in the troop seats, which was a real hit, especially on the climbs and descents. The truck works much better with some ballast.

went off roading last fall with my grandson, got stuck, had to winch out, but winch would not rewind, so later took it off and totally rebuilt it to a fully functioning tool. So to drive back home, just draped cable over the side. NV, UpState SC

Getting ready for an engine swap from the 230 to a rebuilt 251, transmission and transfer case rebuild, PTO winch installation, and front disk brakes with power boost. Work is being done by Tim Holloway of Distinctive Restoration.

At this point, engine is ready to pick up at the rebuilders, various parts have been removed, sandblasted and repainted, transmission disassembled and a few replacement parts ordered. I do need to get some more recent pictures.

I'm itching to drive it again!
