my M needs a starter

bob stahl has them for 90 dollars tested
what is the definition of tested ?
would it be better to buy a nos one from vpw for 250 +100 core ?

Bob would be the best source for explaining what he means by "tested."

I've bought from him before, and would have no hesitation in buying again. For $90 for a functional 24v T245 starter (assuming that it's the correct Autolite model number), your risk isn't that great.

One thing about buying from VPW: if you want your core deposit back as a check or credit card refund instead of having them issue you store credit (i.e. you'd have to buy another $100 worth of stuff from them to get the value of your core deposit back), make sure you confirm that with them in advance.

Bob Stahl is a long time parts supplier and reputable supporter of our hobby. I would not hesitate buying anything from him. He can best answer your questions about the starter.

I've done a bunch of business with Bob, always found him to be a great guy.
I've had trouble getting in touch with him in the past, I say just call him back again.
