Are you able to rock the truck to load/unload the gear train? Maybe you can tilt the trailer and try getting the load off the gears so you can disengage them???

Is the clutch operable?

it feels like the clutch works
i took out the fill plug and the oil on the plug itself looked milky
that tells me water
tomorrow i will take the top off the case for a look-see.
i havent gotten a positive id on this so i dont know what i have to buy a FSM for it
the casting number on the side says
C97247 and under that
STD
the fill and drain holes are on the passenger side one directly above the other

It did drive OK prior to towing it right? Did it get towed in gear? I'm wondering if something gave out during the tow as the truck bounced around.

Likely drive train is loaded. Clutch plate slighty rusted/stuck. Mine did the same exact thing. What worked for me was to push the clutch in, and then bump the starter. Broke the clutch loose instantly, and it shifted easy after that

Put the transfer case in neutral to get it unloaded; before you cause damage just pull the top cover off the tranny to see what's amiss.

if the drive train is loaded, the transfer case may not want to go into neutral either

pretty unhappy right now
there is no way to fill the bone dry np435
and i cant take the top off because its stuck in first gear
there is a big metal plate in the way of the fill plug that is part of the 318 conversion.
i dont have a torch to cut a hole in the plate to get to the fill hole.
and i have to return the trailer monday.
i havent bothered fooling with the carb to get it running
why bother if the tranny is locked up?
i am going to disconnect the trailer and jack up the front and hopefully roll it off

have a buddy hold the clutch in while you crank the motor over with a breaker bar. it doesn't take much rust at all to sieze the clutch enough that it won't come out of gear if the drive train is loaded. is it in 2wd? if so you can unload the drive train by jacking up one rear tire. mine did this when i let it sit for two days, right after i put the clutch together and installed the motor on a humid day. if it's in 4wd you'll have to unload the front axle as well. either by jacking a tire up, or unlocking a hub, or unbolting a drive flange

if removing a driveshaft is required, be sure the driveline is unloaded before unbolting the flange, or the last couple of bolts are probably going to want to come out twisted. just my thoughts
