Adjusted brakes yesterday...

Post by Cal_Gary »

Some might recall my brake overhaul posts from 2014; yesterday, with 500 miles on the overhaul I decided it was time to tweak the D-ring adjustments on each backing plate at the 10 and 2 positions. This was relatively uneventful until I got the wrench on the left-front, front adjuster which just flopped around loosely. Most likely the weld holding the D-Ring broke loose, so I'll pull that hub today and examine/ repair.

More to follow,
Gary

that can lead to sketchy braking....... I thought it would be smart to lube up the sticky D-rings (minor adjuster)...bad move...one became "floppy" and with only three drums working the M37 sure likes to swap ends  ....I managed to keep it in one lane... everyone thought I was a stunt driver with major skills 8)........ the brown factor was high that day

Thanks guys-indeed the D-Ring is detached from the stud. I did a temp fix, tacking it back in place and will be looking for a repair kit in Topeka next week.

Oh yeah, Bert, pictures... :)
