Original Spark Plug wire length

Post by 98taco3 »

Hows it going guys? I know this question has been asked here before but none of the threads actually had measurements.

A semi local guy has a huge box of NOS military spark plug wires but they are mixed from different applications (M38, M151, Generators, M37, Deuce). I know for sure there are M37 wires there but nothing is marked. Would someone be willing to take a quick measurement of their wires so I can make sure I get a set of the proper lengths? Have to drive 2 hours to get them but a drive and 50 bucks seems like a better deal than buying an entire set new :D

Hi 98,

Mine measure 27" and 23" to the 90 degree bend. There's only one 90 degree bend, some other applications used 2. On early trucks all the plug wires were the same length. Starting with engine SN 25518 #1 plug wire is longer than the other 5........if you want to be "technically" correct. Before engine SN 25518 the part number for all 6 wires was 7528172. On engine SNs after 25518 the #1 plug wire was part number 8328039 and the other 5 wires were part number 8328040.

Hope that helps.

regards,
bob
