Plans for 2015

Post by sturmtyger380 »

Here we are again at the start of a new year. What kinda plans does everyone have for 2015?

I had said last year at this time I would start working on my M37. Well… all kinda things got in the way. I decided to build a gantry crane to lift heavy stuff as I keep buying things that I can’t lift. Then it seems all the family vehicles needed some sort of repair that kept then down for weeks. :( Then there were the things to keep the house and yard going.

I did sorta start on the truck. I sandblasted and primed and painted a rim and lock ring. But I promise to start on it this year! Maybe after I rebuild Chris's M37 Transmission.

I need to replace the engine's oil pan gasket soon, it has been leaking for a while and now that I have a new one on hand now is the time for that project to get my attention. Last month the job was to install new rear axle bearings and seals and now that I have finished doing that the leaky pan gasket is next on my M37 to do list.

M37: oil change, coolant change, work on interior, Comms Refit, actually use the bugger of a thing!!
Garage/workshop: Finish clean out and equip for self employment if needed at later date.
Family: Make life awesome for them all :-)
Forum: Be there for all the crew :D
Self: Get Thyroid re-sorted and lose a bit of weight plus re-learn a lot of forgotten skills.

In between sailing and maintaining the sailboat, spending time in the recording studio and doing general stuff, I'll completely rewire the truck and complete the 24 line item list of preliminary things to get it on the road nicely. (3 are done, 6 in process at present )

I am really really really contemplating about thinking about taking a couple of boxes off of the truck some time this year to see if the truck is still under there.

Sturm,
I use your "plans" post for my M37 New Year's resolutions! :) In 2014 I successfully finished my brake overhaul, got my front clip reinstalled, and actually got to drive it a bit. For 2015 I need to get new steel armored brake lines from John at Midwest, and perhaps the steel fuel lines too, and a blast cabinet in preparation for the frame-off in 2016. That's also why I latched onto that engine hoist on cyber-Monday. I, too, need to address leaks-PTO, front and rear mains, and get the correct drive shaft flanges installed (someone used WC flanges before I got the truck). I also need to test out the winch that I installed but have never put into operation. That's a hefty list for this year, and always subject to change. I also plan to attend the MVPA National in Topeka this June-hope to see some forum friends there!

Hi Guys,

Well.......2014 sucked real bad for me so I have high hopes 2015 will be significantly better. I didn't accomplish anything on either of my M37s this past year, other than gathering parts, but I'm hoping to start restoring one this year. I have Crohn's disease, an intestinal disorder, and have had parts of my small bowel removed twice before. This past September they had to go in again and remove most of what was left. I was in physical pain most of 2014 and lost a lot of weight. I spent most all of September and November in the hospital getting chopped up and dealing with post-op complications. Most people have between 18 and 22 feet of small intestine............I now have 3 feet left. That's not enough to absorb all the nutrients one needs to stay alive, so I hook up to a pump at night that feeds me intravenously for 10 hours. I'm now working with a team of doctors, dieticians and nurses who specialize in folks with problems like mine. We're hoping to teach the small bowel I have left to slow down and absorb more of what I eat by mouth....with the intent of weaning me off the IV food. So far so good....my weight is up 20 lbs since the operation and the prognosis is good.

Baring any more complications I hope to get started on restoring something once the weather breaks. I do have to go back into the hospital in another month or two to have my small bowel reconnected to my large intestine......I have an ostomy bag hanging off my abdomen right now, which is totally a pain in my ass (pun intended). But once that's taken care of I can go full bore on the restoration. I won't say it will get finished in 2015, but I'm tired of seeing my M's just sitting there in the driveway...........so I plan to hit it hard in 2015 and we'll see how far I can get. :D

regards,
bob

In 2015, I"ll be cheering everyone on...especially Bob....to get some progress done on their projects. I still have that 1% left on the AF 37 and I am building another bay on the shop to store the 37 and the Chevy M6. Then it's off of M series for a bit while I restore my 66 T-5 "Mustang". I'll still be involved in MV's as we have an active club schedule and I love to hunt parts.

well I didn't sell the dark green Canadian last year. hopefully this year i will replace the rear output yoke or install a speedy sleeve on the t case I also need to change out the oil pressure sending unit.
this year i hope to finish the 510 its been eating all my resources but it should be fun to put together. it will be like assembling a new car or building a full scale model
i sent every nut bolt screw and bracket out to the plater. restored all the accessories, walnut blasted the shell, bought some guns shot epoxy primer then urethane primer and soon it will be in colour.

 I know that's a lot of datsun for a military truck page but I learned a lot, improved on my skills, all of which will be put towards my m37s
i hope this year brings happy wrenching to all
