OIl fill tubes

Post by Kaegi »

i have an M37 here I picked up that still has aT245 in it but the oil fill tube is a press in fit. I thought the T245s were all bolt on oil fill tube. When did they switch to the press in? or was it vice versa?

My M-37 has a Chrysler industrial engine 230 which I installed in it...everybody said that the tube should be pressed in, but it's bolted in. We may never know!

Seen a lot of T245 engines none with press in tubes, maybe a prototype block?

I was thinking maybe a replacement block. The late war T214s in the WC 3/4 and 1 1/2 tons were already getting bolt on tubes, five years before production Ms existed. the bolt on is a way better set up.

Replacement block with a hand stamped number maybe? Lots of blocks left over after WWII I suspect, puzzling to say the least.
