Pictures, A Letter, and a Question!

Post by Tim Powell »

Hey Crew.
I have posted a letter I wrote to Family & Friends on the "soap box" thread.
I have also added a number of pictures to the 2 back pages of my picture album on this site.
Last but not least my truck is not running right?????????????
After M-Series Rebuilders rebuilt my distributor & carburetor I installed new plugs, wires and thought it was running like a top!
Usually it purrs like a kitten but when we hauled it to Quincy and I got ready to off-load the "M" it didn't want to start??
When it finally did, it sputtered the entire parade route. I could hear my hair turning gray!
A penny for your thoughts Crew!! I'll be leaving for my week on the road tomorrow so it will be next week before I can return you mail!

Any chance your distributor adjusting bolt wiggled loose and your timing is off? Hopefully it is something simple that you find & fix before it gets too chilly.

Bad condenser? I just replaced one in my Studebaker weasel because the new one went bad while I was running it. The first one was a Standard Ignition (brand name) part it was only in about a month. The way that I check them is with the points closed, ignition on, open points with a small screwdriver keep "yer" finger off of the metal blade and see how sharp the spark is, if it is really fine it should be good but if it is a big noisy flash its bad. I was able to hook up my weasel to my old Sun machine and watch the spark line just to use it since I haven't used that in like 15 years :) Just a thought, something easy to check if its not fuel related. Have fun :D

Hey Crew!
Just back in off the road and hope to get my new batteries installed and the "M" running in the next few days!
I'll check all the plugs and condenser, check for moisture in the distributor etc.
I have another load to haul on the new trailer first! I'll try and get a few pictures!
