Re: Trailer progress finally!

While up at my parents estate last week I noticed one of those Craftsman "mouse" sanders on a shelf I have yet to go through. I brought it back and decided to put it to use on the trailer bodywork. It worked great on those right angles corners. It was brand new in the box, I don't think Pop had ever used it. Thanks Dad :)
We are moving along. I hope to have ready for paint by Sept. (didn't I say that last year? )

That looks like a better tool for the job David. I think you did say it would be ready in Sept but I don't think you mentioned a year.

Hey Crew,

I plan to bring the trailer frame home this week so I can mount the tub. I will probably get the tub painted this month and thats as far as I will get this season on the M101A1. I bought a Reese brand pintle for my receiver on the Ram pickup so I can move the trailer about, got it today, MADE IN CHINA  :(

I hope by the time you get your trailer done, David that you haven't "misplaced" your data plates! :D

Thanks. Good to hear from you Storm. Hope all is well.
I have them safely tucked inside a big coffee table book on tanks. If I get the tub bolted on and painted this month I can finish up easily over the winter or next spring :)

I have finally finished the body work on the trailer tub :D .We are supposed to have perfect painting weather here in NE Ohio this week, sunny, mid 60's, low humidity. I am bringing the frame home from the warehouse Wednesday night and will place the cargo box on it. Barring any SNAFU's, I am planning to prep Friday night and paint Saturday. I will keep you posted.

I brought the trailer frame home Wednesday and set the tub back on. Saturday I sanded down my primer coats and went to town. I had just enough truck paint left to do the trailer. It turned out well overall. Just in time to take it back to work and store it for winter. This is a big job done and I was glad I got good weather and fit it in before it got too cold. I can tinker with it on my lunch break. Just need to put the lights, data plates, reflectors, and brake levers on. The racks I got from Dan P. are going to look good as well. Pics start here in my album:

Hi David,

I added the pictures to your post.

The trailer looks great, I can't wait to see it out in the sun.

Looks like you're about ready to attach those oh, so expensive data plates!

Trailer is looking great, David! Do you have all the wood and canvas too?

Nice job. I look forward to seeing pictures of it with your truck.

Thanks guys. I thought I would never get this far given my schedule this summer. It seemed to take longer than the truck
Bert, thanks for working your magic on the pics. I posted new pics of it out of the garage, although it clouded up a bit and there was not much sun.

Thanks for the kind words Carter, although I think I am a far better mechanic than bodyman :)

Storm, yes, I have all the accessories, I can't wait to mount the data plates.
Did you use screws or rivets on yours?

I used screws. It was much easier. Also, my trailer is full of canvas and a military blood cooler (works great for beverages too), so it is a garage queen. Maybe next summer I'll drag it out and start playing with it.

Nice looking job!!!! I think the sides and bows will look great when finished. Are you going to add markings?

Installed the racks and bows two weeks ago I bought from DAP:

Personal note to self: When checking for clearance to fit you new trailer into the garage with the bows installed, remember to account for the angle of drop to the front end when the leg rest on the ground , thus tilting the rear up and breaking two 8 foot flourescent ceiling lamp bulbs :o
