Charles D Briggs Jr. aka Lifer

Post by Lifer »

I am sad to announce that my father Charles D Briggs Jr. (aka Lifer) passed away today July 13, 2011 at 4:20 am Eastern Time. I know that he enjoyed "speaking" to all of you about his life, interests and hobbies. Please remember him and us in your prayers. He has gone on to a better place and is no longer suffering or in pain. If you wish to contact my mother you can post on here or send an e-mail to is account as we will still be checking it for some time.
Thank you and blessings to you all,
Penny Jordan

Although I haven't been around this forum anywhere near the length of time as most users here, I have, however, read A LOT of posts by "Lifer" and can definitely say that through his posts, he has taught me a lot about this hobby, and my M37. For that, I am truly grateful for the time and effort he spent giving back to us all those experiences and knowledge that he had. It was always a given that he would be here sooner, rather than later, and knew not a stranger. These pages and this world won't be the same without him. Thank you, Lifer.

To the Briggs' family, I know there is nothing I can do or say to lessen the pain, but rest assured, you all and Mr. Briggs, Jr. will be in my prayers.

This hobby is a small community, but Lifer was, and will be, a bonding thread for us all.

Sincerely,
Bo

My Deepest Condolences are yours Penny.
I know I speak for everyone here, your father was a very nice, informed, intelligent, smart mechanical person. His advice and opinions whether solicited or sought out were on the money and usually correct! His command of the English language was impressive as well.
Charles give us all a glimpse into our mortality, as his illness progressed, I'm sure we all thought about what lies beyond the blue horizon!

Penny,
Words cannot express the sorrow we feel for you and your family. Lifer was one of our Forum elders-always with a funny anecdote, war story, or just plain silliness that we all got a lot of laughs from. He was also a most-knowledgable subject matter expert when it came to these military vehicles and we drew on his expertise on a number of occasions.

He will be terribly missed-please feel free to reach out to us if there is anything we can do for you.
