unit numbers?

is there any way to hunt down the unit numbers for my truck?

Other than carefully sanding down through the layers of old paint on the front bumpers and rear bumperetts to reveal markings there is almost no way to determine where your truck served it's time with a specific military unit as most property book records were destroyed when a truck was turned in for disposal.

Would this apply to the Canadian built trucks also?

Don't know how or where Canadian trucks were marked, that's a good question for some G741 member of the Canadian owners group. Anyone have anyone info on this?
