hi,what exactly gets done when a generator gets rebuilt etc,is it only brushes/seals/bearings ??? do they clean armatures and fields ??? or does the armature get put in a lathe and turned or ....????? thanks

All the steps in the overhaul manual are completed if it is being done by a quality shop. Less reputable or less skilled shops and folks can be anywhere from new paint to the above. You can read the overhaul instructions from the TM 9-1825B segments over on our jeep web site: www.willysmjeeps.com
