OK, my front drive shaft slip yoke had some play, so I jacked up the front end, and unscrewed the collar on the female side. the splines all looked good, and after re-screwing the collar the drive shaft is now firm and tight again.
Does the collar I mention actually tighten the yoke, or will it quickly loosen up again when I drive it next?

Re: Drive Shaft Slip Yoke Question
W.A.
If there is play in the shaft that would mean the splines on the shaft have some wear and by tightening the collar it just pushes the packing in tighter, but after driven it will loosen up again. keeping it greased is good, but lock out hubs will make it last a long time, the shaft will no longer turn if not in four wheel drive and that will save on the rest of the rotating parts in the front end.
