Looking for a drawing of the door mount tire carrier

Post by mikkelborg »

Does anybody have a good, dimensioned drawing of the B-1 style spare tire carrier? The thread about making spotlight pedestal mounts a while back got me thinking about building my own spare tire carrier. From the pictures I have seen they do not look very complicated. I'm thinking that a few junk yarded parts from something like a ford bronco swinging tire carrier and some fabrication could yield a very good stand in for people on a tight budget. Of course, I would like to make it as close to the correct specifications as possible. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Collin

I have one off i could photograph in detail if you'd like. I would think the hardest part would be recreating the latching mechanism, that's a bit intricate.

If it were not too much trouble that would be very helpful, especially if you lay down a tape measure for scale. I could probably make a decent drawing based off that.

Thank you,

You will also need the brace for the cab interior at the front of the door post which welds to the floor.

Thanks for sharing the drawing Carter. I actually don't need the brace, my truck is a B-1 and the old brace and the part of the latch on the body are still intact.

It's good that you already have one, that will save a lot of fabrication time and effort.
