I got a phone call yesterday morning from Ralph who ask if I was ready to have the truck delivered to me.
I had planned to be involved with moving it but he and his nephew Roger already had it loaded and were ready to trailer it here. I had been in the process of installing new lights in the garage so had the garage bay open and told him I bring it on. I hurridly finished the light install and wiring and had everything put away when they got here about an hour later.
Ralph had brought along a draw bar that fit on both pintles, so with the red one connected to the back of my other one, we towed it slowly and carefully off the trailer then backing the red truck like a trailer with Roger at the wheel and Ralph as ground guide we got it in the garage over the grease pit with no trouble at all.
As it sits now it needs a fuel tank installed, all the gauges put back and connected, batteries and cables added and oil and filter then I'll start it and see what it sounds like. The engine was running before Ralph removed it from another rig so It should be OK as I had rebuilt it some years ago and it has had only a couple of hundred miles on it since that time. We shall see.
Lots to be done before it goes back on the road but that's the fun part. Since redoing the front fenders on mr restored truck I haven't had a good project and have been cleaning the garage and doing small jobs in it like adding the filter system to the new compressor and installing a garage ceiling fan and needed another big job to keep me busy and broke.

Now he needs a blue one.
Bruce, at first I thought another coat of red would be the way to go but blue would be a color I have never used before. I'll have to think about that although I still have 2 unopened gallons of 24087. Decisions decisions, what to do? What do the rest of our forum members think should be done Red, AF blue, OD ?

Thanks, it is in better condition than the one I restored with rust only at the lower rear corners of the cab and some surface rust at other areas but only the cab corners are rust through and that will be easy to fix. The front fenders show no rust at all in the areas beneath the headlights. Most of the work will be putting it back together and getting it driveable not rust repair body work although the rear diff. is shot and I will need to remove that and install the good condition spare I have.

Charlie, the cab top was from a Air Force truck, the cargo box was from another truck and the cab is from a third, the last two both army so it is a put together rig with most of the parts from other doner ones. It's really a mix master and as long as I am able to get it driveable that's all I care about.

What does the data plate say? If it says US Army or USMC, I'd go green. If it says USAF, definately go blue. If it says US Navy, gray would be good. Of course, by the late '70s everyone was using one shade of green or another and many were using 4-color NATO camo. The choice is all yours.
