YOU HAVE HIT IT RIGHT ON AGAIN, WITH THE CLUTCH FORK ON THE WINCH , I will know @ later date as temps are dropping here , and yes it is the break band spring on the worm gear that needs adjustment , right side is r/s and so the left side , just thought one had something to do with the other,

No adjustable brake is on the drum, only on the worm shaft. I'm not following your question, the lever on the left side of the winch as viewed from in front of the truck only engages & disengages the drum clutch dog. It does not control the winch. When the drum clutch is disengaged from the drum, you can free spool cable off by hand. If the clutch is engaged, the drum is locked to the drum shaft & will only turn via PTO power. If the clutch engagement lever appears to be doing nothing regardless of its setting, the notoriously typical issue of a loose clutch fork set screw is the very likely reason for it. You will have to pull the clutch end housing to repair if you have this going on.
GOT TO GET THE CABLE WOUND BACK UP WITH SOME HELP ! FUNNY THING HAPPEN the clutch dog started working for most of the rewind then stop working, so at this point it seams to be in clutch fork ? SO NOW HOW HARD IS THAT TO FIX , AND WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO GET HER WORKING THE CORRECT WAY! :? :?

You will have to remove the winch from the truck frame, pull the clutch housing off the drum shaft, you will find the set screw that holds the shift fork in place on the shaft loose I'd bet. Remove the screw & check to see if the threads are ruined. They must be in good shape in order to hold the necessary torque to keep the same problem from happening again. Threads can be repaired with a heli-coil unless the fork is cracked or something, check it closely. When you build everything back up, be sure the set screw gets a liberal application of lock tight. Check the shaft to be sure the screw indent isn't wallowed out also. You are suject to find these issues if it has been loose for long.
