On the 'starter whine' thread you mention the starter switch adjustment. How is this done? Can it be done without removing the starter, distributor, etc?
Thanks

Re: Starter Adjustment ? for Charles
Yes it can. On the arm that is activated by the foot pedal, there is a short bolt, nut assembly. The head of the bolt is what contacts the switch push rod. Make sure the bolt is run forward or backwards so that the lever moves enough to engage the starter drive with the flywheel ring before the switch is engaged to make the starter motor spin. The thing to remember is that the drive engagement is mechanical & must happen before the starter motor turns.52m37Hal wrote:Charles

Feeling & listening is more like it. You can tell easily when the drive engages the flywheel ring. Once that is correct adjust the screw to activate the starter motor switch.52m37Hal wrote:Charles
Thank you, But how can you tell when the adjustment is correct. What should I be looking for?
