unit numbers
I would like to decode the unit markings on the front bumper,the #'s are 50[2'' triangel]1f258 b163 serial # 2420971.Also is there any way to tell if those are the correct unit #'s for that truck and is there any way to find out where that was used in the states? thanks Tony
Are the letters really lower case??
B163 would be Truck 163 in B Company and would be on the Drivers side of the front bumper.
Do you have a picture?
Check the rear Bumperette also
Is the serial number you quote the number on the hood (That is USA number) or the number stamped on the frame (and on glove box door data palte)

The serial on the glove box door is 80023692,the USA number is 2420971
50th Armored div was a National Guard Unit based in NJ and Vermont.

The 258th seems to have spent most of its life in NY
From the above and note below it appears your truck probably ended its career in NY (Not NJ or VT) as the 258th was originally in a NY Division that was downsized and put under the 50th
In the late 1950s, continued Cold War expansion of the National Guard’s armored units resulted in the conversion of New York’s 27th Infantry Division into an armored one. But in the late 1960s, reorganization and downsizing of the National Guard resulted in the 27th Armored Division (“Empire”) into an armored brigade assigned to the 50th Armored Division. At the same time, the 36th Infantry Brigade from Texas and the 86th Armored Brigade from Vermont also became part of the 50th Armored Division. The “Jersey Blues” nickname no longer fit, and the division’s shoulder patch was redesigned to remove it.

Living here in granolaville, the term "organic" has a very specific meaning. I can see it now ... launching only hand harvested, free range, Birkenstock wearing, hormone-free produce.
