Stalls when warm
We gun sighted the distributor right in the middle of the slot and the truck started right up. We have fast idle issue that when we adjusted the linkage down, the throttle arm can't seem to pull down enough to get the carb adjustment arm to hit the stop. You can reach in and pull down and it will almost stall. Any suggestions? After driving around the block a few, the truck will start to surge with your foot off the gas. It will go through a few cycles and then stall. The exhaust is really cloudy/black almost like it is too rich. Seems to be pretty consistent - warms up - surges - stalls.

Guessing here as I can't ask a few common questions. Usually carb issues are the result when black clouds emerge from the pipe though. Give me a call if you like, we'll talk about it. Surging issues can certainly be governor related, but not sure you are yet at that stage in the trial.

Thanks Charles - I turned the distributor CCW and listened for the sweet spot on idle. I ran the truck for 30 minutes, still have my high idle issue which will require more tension on the return spring. I rolled the truck down the driveway and drove it up in first gear, slight incline, just to load the engine up. At first the engine had a bit of stumble, so I adjusted more CCW. It ran fine, but I will still get the timing checked. The carb did not load up and stall after running and I drove it around the block as well. The high idle is next.
