Rebuild progress all in one thread

yup, they're the old 8 on 6.5s. Tires are 9" wide from outer edge of bead to outer edge of bead.

bodywork is FINALLY nearing completion. I have the cab top, windshield frames, and doors left, along with a few other random things like the headlight buckets.

Got the new set of rims stripped and repainted, they look decent. Didn't spend a whole lot of time on them, good enough...

Spent most of the night working on the door skins. Someone beat the hell out of them, and then someon else tried to straighten them with a stud puller and just made them worse, and they have been a pet peeve of mine since I got the truck. They're all set now though, flatter than Kiera Knightly!

I've never seen a cab top with ridges in it before. Is that a common piece? Mine is flat on the top. Is this another difference perhaps between the US and CDN trucks?

I'm guessing that the metal tops were flat and the fiberglass tops had the "ridges." (They make it more rigid and limit flexing. Too much flexibility would result in untimely self-destruction of an unreinforced top.)

Snake River's top has the linear troughs, this might be one of his, just a guess?

I belive you are right Bruce.

I like the top, fits good, looks good, nice and light so it is easy to remove.

My only complaint is that at high speed (something most of you know nothing about... ) It does flex some. It's fine to about 60, but, above that it starts to shudder and creak. My plan is to build a hoop behinde the seats to tie the window frame to with some horizontal bars to give it some more rigidity.

Well, there's the air compressor at one end and what appears to be a filter and pressure guage at the other end, so I'm guessing that it's an air line (with several places to drain off water).

Anybody else wanna take a guess?

Correct, it's a copper intercooler/water trap. Works well, I get very little watter in the end of line trap by the hose connection. Pipe off the compressor is so hot you can't touch it, and the one at the hose is cold.
