Anyone using valvoline VR1 non-synthetic 10W30? I can get it at my local Napa and it's advertised as being high-zinc for flat tappets

Yes, seems to work just fine. Tried 20w-50 first when we first got the truck running and used it through the hot summer. I figured the extra viscosity was a good idea until I developed some faith in the engine! Once I was comfortable I switched to 10w-30. I'll be sticking with that viscosity. Has the ZDDP to keep the cam and lifters happy too :).
