Jay,

Did your buddy have one that you try a test fit with? If it fits the intake tube, you are just using it for "show" anyhow.....The 2.5" ID would be very close to what you are looking for without the rubber spacer that I had to use. You could also use an exhaust pipe expander to open it up a little bit for a slip fit.

Hey Bert,
Yeah we used a M38's air cleaner cap, the same as the A1 also from what I have read and its too small on the inside. I bet I can rig up something using that cap , it just isn't the same one as in the picture you have. I wish I measured it , but its a inch or so smaller if I remember right. Yours looks identical to the M38's cap from the top and the writing but the under side is diff.

I might order one and play with it. Im taking my M37 out of the garage today and drive it for the first time since Veterans Day. I might put the pipe on to see the looks again , cap vs no cap.

I uploaded a picture I found online of the same M38 cap that my friend has.
