Holy Cow!!
Glad I made it home to receive all this intel! Looks like I can build the upper bracket easy enough. I've got the spring loaded upper rifle retainer thingy. Anyone have an extra butt holder for sale?

Re: Rifle Mounting Location.
Going to Quincy Illinois this Saturday Nov. 7th for their Veteran Parade.
Sadly the M16 will not be mounted and ready but we will be there!
Again, I want to thank all of you for the help! Still looking for the lower butt mount.

Re: Rifle Mounting Location.
In Illinois they would probably not let you display it if you did have it ready and mountable.

Hey Will.
I'll bet your correct!! Socialist Republic of Illinois won't even let their local
National Guard bring a vehicle to the parade.

Re: Rifle Mounting Location.
Dana,
Sorry for the delay. David Ahl published an M37 mag called "M37 Restoration Guide" based on his project truck he did for Military Vehicles Magazine some years ago. While it has a great deal of useful info, guidance, and pictures, he erred in calling it a Restoration Guide. A "how to" guide would be a better fit.
The mag is out of print and commands high prices on the auction sites. I have my copy and have found it quite useful to answer a number of unknowns-many of the photos contained within are also beneficial which is why I reference it on occasion.
The link goes to a excerpt of the guide.

Hope this helps,
Gary

would my canadian trucks have the right butt holder? I have a few cabs with a large oblong rubber things that sit on the floor in the rear cab corners beside the seat base.
I can try pulling them but I think they are for an enfield ?

Re: Rifle Mounting Location.
Hey Crew. I'm back.
Long week on the road, ran in my first snow of the year out in Nebraska.
I'm thinking maybe I'll try building the butt-holder floor mount thingy.
If that don't work I'll buy one.
By the way we went to a great Veteran Day parade in Quincy Illinois last week.
What a privilege. Thank you to all that served.

Re: Rifle Mounting Location.
i am interested in this too
i know we arent supposed to talk about guns and i respect that.
but will i get in trouble if i ask if a shotgun would be an issue weapon?

Re: Rifle Mounting Location.
Billy,
Short answer is yes, the shotgun has a long history in the military and would have been issue in many units such as MP and Infantry. Not sure about other services but we had them in most of the Army Infantry units I was assigned.

Hey crew.
Glad to see activity on this subject although my progress came to a grinding halt!
Hope to get back in gear after the first of the year. Busy season for sure.
