Any experiance using RockAuto Brake slave & master Cylinders

1. The Mojave is hot.

2. Mr. Fedex came early.

The wheel cylinder looks like the ones that are on my '53, minus the puked dot3 all over it from the one it's replacing. Raybestos WC3595 is on the box. More to come after this weekend of eventually successful brake work. If everything works out, I'll also link to the M/C I have from Speedway Motors.

So for the fronts the Raybestos ones from Rockauto are no good. The line port is to low for the line to attach without the knuckle being in the way. Good news, the front one was good, and I sacrificed the guts of the rockauto one to rebuild the right rear w/c.

Corvette style M/C's are a bit wide, but some massaging with a cutoff wheel got it in.

Did you order ones for the rear? If so are they okay back there? I ask because you mention gutting the front ones to rebuild the right rear and I can't remember if you even order the rears.

I guess this would mean that the Raybestos rebuild kit would okay however?

I had actually ordered a left front, but again the mounting issues. After I had liberated the rounded and jammed bleeder on it, it was found to be generally serviceable so just swapped the bleeder from the ordered part. The bleeder was good on the rear, but the aluminum plugs showed signs of corrosion, so just swapped internals.


I'm sure someone is cringing about that bit of shade tree mechanics. All I can say is, it works, and they will get a proper run through once I get it to FL, along with a probable front disc conversion and finding an axle shop to rebuild the front and rear and have 4.89s installed.

I am not cringing! If everything needed to be done to these trucks needed to be perfect less than half of them out there now would be running! The job sounds safe to me which is all that counts.

A disk conversion would be nice and I can even have a friend who could CNC plasma cut the brackets - but weeks of looking through rotor catalogs has left me exasperated to find a good match for that hub. Of course I did find a good kit, but there is no fun in that - even if I could afford it and didn't mind machining down the hubs.

Okay scratch the Raybestos WC I guess.

This is the M/C from Speedway Motors I used. It was a "bit" wide they do sell a truck style one that looks less wide.


first comparison. as stated before, the banjo port is low. Also, as you can probably see, I "machined" some casting ears back. This might work on an actual B4 power wagon, but not on the M37. Its guts didn't go to waste though.

Also, desert winds make for sandstorms under said truck while working on it outside of a garage.

Re-installing the tranny cover would be a good idea as well...
