Does your E-Brake work? If so, you can use it to ease the truck into the garage.... Also as a failsafe measure place a chock or piece of 4x4 in a strategic location to stop the vehicle should it roll too far.
As to your rusted windshield frame, I think the bottom portion can be cut out and a new piece welded in place. Shouldn't be too difficult. You could even do it in pieces to make the job a bit easier. Of course you will then have to drill and tap holes for the windshiled frame seal but thats no big deal either.

Windshield frame bottom...
The windshield frame bottom on mine was pitted, but only had a small rust hole, which I welded up. I then blasted, and filled the pits with a skim coat of body filler, then painted it. It looked prettty decent, even though it'll never be seen again. I don't plan to ever lower the windshield as some people do. When I owned my Jeep Wrangler I felt the same way. Even though I had the capability to lower the windshield, the question "why" always came up and I never did so. I see no need to.

No rust...
That tells me then that this particular windshield and frame was taken from another truck and the one that adorned yours, undoubtedly being in much better condition, was swapped out to replace it, hence your now badly rusted windshield frame but no rust to the cab.
Post some pictures of this rust, I'd like to see if its repairable. My bet is that it can be fixed with some patience. You'd be surprised what looks awful at first turns out to be an easy repair. My windshield attachment points looked unrepairable until I removed the windshield, the brackets, etc. It turned out to not be so bad and was really a simple repair, although it took some time ot hammer the patches ot at least come close to matching the curvature of the cowl in that area.

I have been thinking my truck is a collection of a few spare parts. Neither door has any blue on them and the hood doesn't either. The bumper has Army markings on it even though this is a AF truck (main body, frame, fenders all having blue paint under the other layers).
The hood has no grab handle on the front, though I am not sure if all of them had those.

Hodgepodge of parts.....
I think with a 40 to 50+ year old truck(maybe older) its going to be a given that there will be non-original parts, among other things. Consider yourself lucky you have what you have. It could be worse.
My truck surely is a hodgepodge of spares scrounged from God knows where, some of which I can attest to adding through necessity. Bottom line is, its in one piece and driveable, and a good coat of paint makes it all appear the same.

Windshield bottom....
Wow, that is pretty bad. Its worse than I thought. I think it can be fixed, but it would be much more involved than I had first thought.
Those pictures reinforce my thoughts that this windshield is not the original. With that kind of rot, I would definitely think you would have had rot on the cowl as well. There's no way you wouldn't IMO. Like I said earlier, someone probably needed a windshield and swapped it with yours. I think you'd be best served at this point by searching for a replacement.
Its a shame too because I saw a guy at the Aberdeen Md show back in May who had a whole winsdhield frame for sale. It wasn' t in the best of shape either, but it was definitely usable and only had small amounts of rust through....
