Actually the current only flying B-29 was flown out from the Navy's China Lake weapons range in the early 80's. A team of Confederate Air Force Technicians went there, bought the airplane and obtained authority to cannibalize any parts they needed to get her flyable from the other B29's setting there and after several weeks they got her ferryable to Harlingen where she sat for a multiyear restoration. Once these aircraft get above the size of the B-25 ferrying is the best choice economically. It usually will cost 2 or 3 times as much to dis-assemble and ship.
