I knew a fellow who had a Dodge WC62 at a display years ago. An older gentleman walks up to him and says something to the effect "yeah those old Jimmy's were tough." When the WC owner told him it was actually a 1.5 ton Dodge and not a GMC product he was told he was wrong and didn't know what he was talking about by the gentleman. Even after showing the guy the truck's data plate, the old guy still wouldn't believe it. In his mind, that WC62 was a CCKW.....Carter wrote:Old salts being what they are, OLD, they sometimes have things confused. After seeing my truck, one Korean conflict combat Vet. told me "that's one of those old weapons carriers that were made of solid brass so they wouldn't rust after being in salt water" (True Story)
Maybe Plymouth made the brass ones
A couple of years ago I had my M151A1 w/ M4 pedistal mount at a public display. Now mind you, it was the jeep with just the mount-no cradle or weapon(s). A member of the public comes over to me and with an air of concern, asked "if that thing is loaded?" I had to turn around and look at what he was alluding to. I explained that it was merely the mount and there were no weapons on board. His reply was a rather abrupt "No, that's a mortar."
