but if you happen to be saying that I have claimed either a horsepower boost or fuel economy boost after installing this upgrade
Charles you really need not be so defensive. Had I considered your previous remarks on this post in error or questionable I would not be the bashful one. I would say it out loud and clear. In your most recent post you did seem to declare an unsubstantiated
Any gas engine with a top notch ignition system that this module provides does perform better.
claim of better performance which I guess is the different way we define performance. I did define it for my post above. I think you tried to separate reliability from horse power but you just didn't put it all in the same sentence.

We obviously disagree a lot on this performance claiming issue but as I said above the claims in this thread so far have been unsubstantiated. Feels good, feels better, seems to crank easier are the same mentally suggestive results we see from folks who swear by their Marvel mystery Oil. Lots of folks feel better, look better, smell better, sound better, cranks faster, seems smoother but not one single person has produced a scientific comparison. Not heavy duty lab stuff required here at all. Take one M37, Test one rebuild the distributor, add a set of quality ignition points and condenser, time it correctly and run it on a dyno. Test Two remove points and condenser, install Pertronix, set timing and run it on the dyno.

Bipity Bam there you have it. There's only 3 possible answers.
1-Pertronix is better.
2-Points are better.
3-They are both the same.

No problem, just wanted to be sure we were on the same page on who was making what claims. I agree with the analysis about some folks thinking something that may not necessarily be the case. My analysis with these isn't based on just one, it is based on many that I have personally upgraded. I've seen positive differences many times. If you have not, so be it, that's you. I'm only speaking for myself and could relay many positive messages from customers who did conversions and love them.

It may be wise for you to go back and read the first post in the thread, the only reason it came up was so if anyone wanted one, they could have opportunity to get it before the cost increase took effect. I was simply trying to do a favor for the folks here and save them a few bucks. A gentleman asked me for more information, I gave him an honest opinion. If you have no interest in obtaining a module, that's your business, and I'm fine with it. I believe your real intent may be beginning to shine out just a little now though, wink.

Now that we are clear on what my intent for starting the thread was initially, I'm done with it.
