ATV Winch Install

G'day All.........
This is a test message to compare the HTML handling of one site against another, you may?? find it interesting...
I fitted my 3,500 Lb winch on the weekend and it all went in better than expected. I used 6mm high tensile aluminium as I had no steel so hopefully no problems ahead with that decision, tested on the hydraulic press it was just as strong so we'll see....
I copied the idea of the guys on here (atvfrontier.com) and put the solenoid and wireless receiver in the toolbox (have to make an anti-short cover for it), ran the loom on plastic surfaces only and used U-Bolts to secure the winch (I used 8 however). I fitted a pair of 55w driving lights whilst I was at it but I will have to take more pics of the completed project when I have the time. The only fitment problem I found is the motor touches on the rear of the headlight housing as it is so big but there is no pressure on it so hopefully there won't be any future problems with that.
Any constructive criticism or suggestions welcome!!

G'day Bruce.....
The horn is just mounted using the U-Bolt for the mounting plate, I was going to arse about making a new mount but simple is most always the best and I don't think the vibration will unwind a Nylock nut :-)
The only loose nut I am aware of on my bike is me when I am on it :P

Good looking mounting job, what make of winch is that and how much cable is on it?

G'day Carter.....
It is a standard Chinese one sold under a myriad of names, it seems to be half reasonable and should suit my purpose, the winch has about 50' of cable on it and comes with a fall block as standard so for the $220 Aud landed on my doorstep it is good value and if it fails due to excess water or poor build it'll be an easy fix or a cheap replacement. I take the 3,500Lb rating with a healthy dose of skepticism but even if you halve it's rated capacity it is still quite useful, certainly beats trying to push the quad out of a boghole anyhow :-)

Will your machines fairing have to be adapted in any way for winch mount?

Looks neat, out of the way. And "OH YEAH BUDDY!!" about not having to push the machine out of a mudhole or similar trap.. ;)

G'day Kevin.....
No, no mods at all to the bike, it is a non intrusive install and after seeing a few pics of previous installs on the net with factory mounting plates the winch motor touches the rear of the headlight cover so I feel better now LOL
I'll post some pics of the complete reassembled install when I take them tomorrow, any suggestions from anyone as to what mods they think I should do to my bike?? (all is the more the pity the paint won't stick or it would be olive drab already).

Thanks for the compliments, it's always good to get feedback on the work you have done, good or bad.....
I'd love to see pics of your gear Bruce, has anyone else on here got an ATV and pic of it?? It dosen't have to be a quad, argos', modified Mudder vehicles and anything of the sort would be great, I am always interested....

The golf cart is electric, very quiet, the King Quad is quite a bit noisier and will cruise faster than I have tried to make it go.
The quad actually belongs to my neighbor, but lives in my barn full time. He uses it for hunting our farm, I use it for fence mending and the occasional joy ride.
