I went out off-roading yesterday and had to put about a quart of oil in the engine even though I had topped it off the night before.
I've known for a while that the truck consumes oil, but since I don't drive it that much it has never been that apparent.
The exhaust pipe was wet with oil which leads me to believe I've got really worn out rings (the compression test I've done would suggest this).
So, I'm thinking to do a hone and ring job with the engine in the truck.
A couple of questions:
Is there anything else this could be?
How do I know what size rings I need?

Re: Excessive Oil consumption
I go through a lot of oil too. I've lived with it since I don't have the funds for a rebuild. It's not blowing smoke nor a gushing leak. Just the same mystery as yours.
