Crush Washers for F&R Axles

Post by Rdinatal »

What is the consensus on oil drain crush washers? The ones I have are about worn out. No 'crush left to them.

Any substitutes?

Mil-spec copper/asbestos (or whatever the modern substitute is for asbestos...) MS35769-18 (7/8" ID).

Available from places like skygeek.com, etc.

My Ace Hardware has them. Any auto supply will have them. I anneal them at each oil change until they are too deformed. Then use a new one.

I tried O Rings. Even though they work the trust isn't there when it comes to holding. The rubber shifts/compresses too easily.

Elwood's reference to those on skygeek.com... Those definitely are 'special'.

I found these and they work great. Able to tighten and stay, malable enough to seal great, and affordable.
