M37 Battery's

Does anyone here have a pic of an original battery configuration should look like in them? I was just informed that the correct battery is a 2HN or 51R which are 500 cold cranking amps.
I have been using a 2-31P's which are much larger and twice the cold cranking amps @950 cold cranking amps. I mean the batterys I have been using take up most of the space in the battery compartment. I will say one thing for the bigger batterys is that they are 10 years old and just now crapping out, so I am in need to get some new batterys.
The battery space seams very large just to store 2 small batterys, thus my request for a pic of what they would have looked like in the day.

This is What I did.
It's Very Close but not 100%
The batteries are 22NF if I remember A little short
Original Hold down was used.

my truck is actually an M42, Command version, I think originally from Dodge and not a field modification based on the serial number. I don't know but perhaps my under seat battery box was made for bigger batteries than the 25 amp trucks. So about two years ago, I put in the biggest batteries that I could get to fit, and then when my truck was up at Charles Talbert's place, he put in a master cut off switch on the front of the passenger seat battery wall. I use it all the time, and it is handy when doing any wiring to avoid something sparking. Plus, I think it may keep my batteries from some how slowly draining down. My truck is now indoors at our big "motor pool' hanger out by the Columbia airport, and the other members comment on now nice it seems to run and good it looks. I have taken all my spares and such over for anyone to use. So nice to have my truck finally under cover from the sun and the rain and leaves. hal

Here is how mine was/is setup. Someone put in a disconnect which is a cool idea. It would stop someone from just jumping in the truck and taking off with it....I do not seam to have that battery box set-up in mine.. Probably long gone...

Your battery box is missing. Bubba likely tossed it due to a rusted out bottom.

So do they bolt in or just sit in? Are they made to take in and out with the batterys in them. Will have to see if I can find one.

Down in the bottom of the box is a tray the batteries fit in. It is bolted to the bottom of the battery box and the floor. The long bolts for holding the batteries down fit in holes in the tray. You have seen the top hold down.

My tray was rusted and corroded with no long bolts. My batteries were held in place with pieces of 2X6 shoved in beside the batteries.

Years ago I was able to find a good tray still with the long bolts. I had to weld in patches to the battery box bottom and some of the cab floor under the box. No batteries yet but soon. I am building the engine the last big item.

Max just got that spare box from me a month or so ago. Somebody here might have a spare in a parts truck, if you guys can help Steve out!
