Selling my M37/M42

Post by NAM VET »

rather sadly, I must sell my truck. While I say it is an M37, mine is actually an M42, a command version. It is running great and pulls the hills in our new city with authority, after replacing the in-tank filter and the Facet fuel pump. Using it about every day for this and that. Hauling plants yesterday. I have listed on Autotrader classic cars. We just don't have room in our new home's driveway to keep it or for sure it would stay. I am proud to say that everything works as designed, not just the big items, but even the black out lights, and Cat's eyes. Starts and runs perfectly, and thanks to our vendors and especially Charles Talbert, not a single leak to spot my driveway. By now I have at least $40 K in my truck, and crates of spares and such.

I'll remain here of course. If you are interested here us my listing. hal

hah, the scams are here! "...are you original owner?" or, "I send you check, you cash and I pick up vehicle...." "...text me pics of truck... after I put 16 on site. "...my wife like truck, buy with check.''' Yeah right. Hal

Yea.sold a motorcycle a little while ago. Craigslist turned me into a grumpy old man. Finally I graduated into a completely non-caring eye rolling guy at every response  . Then a guy led me to believe he was sorta serious when he handed me my asking price in real US cash. Hang in there.

I am in no hurry, pretty handy to have a pick up when when we just moved to a new home, lots of trips to Home Depot or the Nursery. I wish I had room to keep it. Just don't.... But sure running well here in the hills of Lexington. hal

You could always rent a storage garage and put the truck there when not using it. After all the blood, sweat, and tears that you put into it I'd hate to see you sell it. Just a thought....
M37s are HMMWV in my world!

I have thought about that, inexpensive parking nearby. Oh, interesting how folks want to send a cashier's check, even for more than my asking. Always "...will have my wife send check..." Usually from Texas, so I suppose my truck would be across the border before the check returns as invalid. Hal

Hey Hal, Try connecting with these guys they are in Columbia. I have visited their motor pool area near I-20 in north Columbia. Nice group of guys. I know a number of them keep their vehicle in their motor pool area. Or they might know some credible person that would like to buy your truck.

What is the significance of the 4 on the doors? Haven’t seen that before.

That's the weight classification in tons. Most M-series vehicles now have the weight plate on the grill.

It is known as a "bridge badge".

Combat engineers rate bridge capacity by the ton, so a 20-ton bridge should support 5 loaded M37's on the span at a time.

Or an overloaded 2.5 ton, supposedly.

Most useful with pontoon bridges...
