what is "high" Resistance on temp sending unit?

Post by refit1701 »

My temp gauge started staying on max last year and now with everything coolant related apart, I'm troubleshooting.

The MVPA electrical manual (long out of print) says that the sender should read high resistance when cold and drop as the engine heats up. Mine reads 4.2K ohms, which doesn't sound that high to me. What reading should I be getting?
