Windshield Seal

Having a bugger of a time latching my new windshield. Looks like the rubber should be pointed the other way? Hard to tell from the pic but the angle is pointing towards the cab. It came this way from John:

That is the same as mine. That is the correct orientation. The rubber should flatten out as the window is pulled shut. The problem is because the rubber is new and hasn't formed to the frame yet under pressure. Get your silicone spray or paste and start coating the rubber. Press the window inward by the frame NOT THE GLASS. Another method to soften the rubber is a constantly moving heat gun. Sometimes you can even get by with just heating the top half of the vertical sides as these get the most "squish" as the window is pivoting down. When new, they provide the most resistance.

He's referring to the two individual windshield 3 sided seals. It sounds like you might be thinking of the bottom cowl seal under the windshield frame. But yes, when the cowl seal is new it also makes quite a bit of resistance for getting the frame upright and straight.

Works well for front fender welt, too. The original surplus rubber is hard as a rock now, all dried out.
