Old style Dash Panel Lights and Speedometer finding

Post by pfrederi »

I am installing a new front wiring harness and spider on my M37. The wires for the dash panel lights and the high beam indicator are not included. These are the old style lights with the heavy red glass lens. The wires go into nipples on a rubber boot that is also the gasket for the assembly. The nipples are cracked and I am sure by the time I get the wires out the boots will be damaged. The parts manual doesn't show the boot /gasket as a separate item. Has any one seen the boot /gasket...are they available???

An interesting side note I guess my speedometer is original.. I found a date on the back Apr 8 195(illegible) but the trucks data plate shows May 52...so I guess the 36,000 miles is accurate. To bad Aberdeen didn't put the mileage on the engine overhaul data plate :(

Hey Paul -

Mine were pretty brittle but came off with silicone spray. I cleaned them and stuck them back together with liquid tape. Not sure how long they'll last behind there but the next guy will have to deal with it in 50 years.

Hi Paul,
I don't know the number but they make a repair kit for the back side of the marker lights-wires, sockets, etc. I saw some at a swap meet.
