10.50-16

Post by SOTVEN »

Hello everyone!! Old friends, and new members! Wow! 1125 trucks registered already!! I hope you and your lovedones are all well. Just wanted to share with you that I got new tires for my truck. They are 10.50x16, and with quite aggressive pattern on them. They are made by Mitas, a company from Chech Republic as far as I know. The model is IM-01, and this is the only size offering. They are listed in their implement section of tires. First impressions, they are about 37" tall, so they dont fit the door spare carrier. I suspect that the speedometer is off now, as this tire makes quite a few revolutions fewer per mile, than the 9x16. Not much road noise. (Perhaps in a vehicle with less operational noise than an m37, they would make a difference lol). Not cheap. Here in Europe, they cost a bit above the 9x16 offerings, but nowhere near the elusive and unrealisticly expensive Michelin 11x16. They are 14 ply rating, and designed as a tube tire. Not tubeless. I did not get to drive and try them out yet, as on the very same day I installed them, i dislocated my knee, so I have been out of commission for now lol. And now, wish me luck., for I will try to upload a couple pictures.

You know what they say, If there are no pictures then it didn't happen.   Take care of that knee! Replacement knees are not all they are made out to be! Trust me, I know.

SOTVEN!
So great to hear from you-other than your blown knee how have you been? You know we need more than one post per year out of you since you've been with us for so long! :) Thanks for the update on your truck; a heavy Winter is finally ending so maybe we can get back to work on our trucks!
Keep in touch, Friend!

I went searching. I found the web site for Mitas. I posted a link but it does not list any sizes. It may not be the same tire that we see in the States. Looks like an implement tire. I wonder what the speed rating is.

Hello dear friends!! So nice to hear your welcome in this forum once again!! Youre absolutely right, i should frequent more often, but it has been a few busy years lately, and lots of things have happened that demanded my full attention. On top of everything else, my father passed away in the begining of this year. But it seems that I am gaining control again of what is going on. Hopefully I will be in here more often now. As for the tires, I will try to upload pictures from a pc, because its impossible to do from my cell phone for an unknown reason. Yes, that is the tire that you got in the link, and it is an implement tire. It is only available in 10,50-16 as per factory info. In regards to speed rating, I have no idea. However, on the way back from the shop, as I was rushing to get to the doctor to check my knee, I did close to 50mph, and they performed fine (compared to regular 9x16 ndcc.) Max tire inflation as per engraving is 25 bar!!! ( that should be equal to a 1000 lbs bomb!!) hahahahaha. If I manage to upload the pictures, I will include some with the info as it appears on them. In general, they look as if they were designed for these trucks. The tread pattern is about 3/4" deep at its most shallow spot (near the center) Mounted on the stock rims, they do not extend outside the fenders. The only bummer in my case, is that the spare will not fit the door carrier. Its too big. So I will run a 9x16 spare, as I do not feel like modifing the carrier. Photos soon! :-)

These Mitas tire are looking better and better. Looks like I will have to find a dealer. I went and looked up the specs on them and compared to our other favorites:

Military NDT 900-16
Section Width 10.10
Overall Diameter 35.20
Max Load Cap 3330@60PSI
Rim Width 5.00 - 6.50
Tube Type

Mitas IM-01
Section Width 10.8 (About .5 mm narower)
Overall Diameter 37.2 (About 50 mm taller)
Max Load Cap 4564@65PSI at 50mph
Rim Width 7.00 - 15.5 (The Doc sheet had 401.5 which I think is MM which converts to the 15.5).
Tube Type

Mich 225/100R16 (These are unobtainum now)
Section Width 10
Overall Diameter 36.3
Max Load Cap 3750@65PSI
Rim Width 6 - 6.5

STA Super Lug 8 Ply 900-16
Section Width 10.40
Overall Diameter 36.30
Max Load Cap 3030@50psi
Rim Width 5.00 - 6.5

The rim width is the only issue I see.
