24 volt to 12 volt conversion.
Not sure if this will all come out in the right order. You'll be able to figure it out
No Military parts were harmed in the conversion. They can all be put back in original condition!!
OK, this will show how I changed from the 3 bulb Military 24 volt lights to a single bulb, double filament 12 volt lamp.
I want to be able to pull the M416 with my Ranger. If I ever get the Jeep on the road I’ll wire it accordingly. Start by removing the lens and removing the inside assembly.

Note the hole in the back of the housing where the wiring went through the grommet.
Now for the “FarmKing” donor lights.

Re: 24 volt to 12 volt conversion.
Make sure you get lights that have a threaded stud mount!
Mount the stud in the existing hole and gently tighten the second nut on the back side.
I am using “Off Road Only” extra high output LED bulbs! Don’t look Ethel!
Tighten the nut on the bottom of the stud. Add a machine washer and a short piece of 3/8” fuel line for a grommet. Mount the stud in the existing hole and gently tighten the second nut on the back side.

Re: 24 volt to 12 volt conversion.
This application will only use 4 wires. (Don’t worry about the extra wires, they ain’t in the way.)

Re: 24 volt to 12 volt conversion.
Any parts left over can be reassembled and put back to stock.
Going to finish wiring the back of the trailer tomorrow. Gotta’ get a 4 lug “buss-bar”. To be continued.

Hi Tim,
Nice tutorial on the conversion.
Is the Kilroy marking a sticker or painted on?

Hey Guys!!
Holy Cow, my hat won't fit if you keep it up like this! Thank you.
The "Kilroy" is a vinyl graphic from our very own Rick Larson.

Finished up the trailer today. Had to make a few parts runs but we got-er done. Installed a second junction box at the right rear of the trailer. Wiring from the front. And the wiring that will run to the left and right tail lamps.

Re: 24 volt to 12 volt conversion.
Found the new 7/8" grommets at a local truck repair shop.
Lots of misc. nuts and bolts, wiring connections and plenty of soldering.
Add a roll of black tape and some wiring lugs and she's back on the road.
The rear junction box with cover installed. Grommets in the frame rail to protect the new wires. Let there be light! Hoorah. And she's back hooked to her Jeep. We really didn't need the little Willys but the last owner was going to let her rust into the ground.
It mostly sits in the yard and smiles at the Folks that drive by and smile at her.
Small car show tomorrow at the local "Care Center" and a parade Saturday.
Gotta' get back to work!! Been a fun little project and the lights could be put back to original in about 5 minutes.

Thanks Gary.
It's a combination of trying to be sorta' original, sorta' legal, and most of all lots of fun!
